Jul 24, 2021

On July 23, 2021, Forum Masyarakat Madani, MADANI’s Learning Forum in Boyolali (Central Java), signed a memorandum of understanding with representatives of the Boyolali government and private sector to support MADANI’s work to improve community responses to health services and access to information for pregnant women and newborn children in Boyolali.

Present at the signing ceremony (held online because of COVID-19) were Learning Forum members (including MADANI’s local CSO partner LKTS), the local government of Boyolali (headed by Bappeda and the District Health Office), private sector representatives (the state oil company Pertamina and the local BPR bank), andselected sub-district and village administrators. All parties supported the piloting of the community response to improve maternal and neo-natal health through the establishment of a community-based team of facilitators for the early detection of pregnant women, linked to the Ministry of Health’s Village Health Forum (Forum Kesehatan Desa). MADANI will fund piloting in two sub-districts, and discussions are underway for additional funding from the local government and the private sector to replicate in additional districts.
