MERBABU is a replication of a MADANI-initiated intervention to revitalize the “Alert Village” (Desa Siaga), which is the Ministry of Health’s maternal and child health (MCH) program. MERBABU uses a collaborative governance approach to improve MCH services and outcomes in Boyolali, which has recorded four maternal deaths and 35 infant deaths in the first five months of 2023 alone. USAID MADANI partner CSO LKTS and multistakeholder forum, together with the District Health Office and the Regional Planning and Development Agency, will facilitate the implementation of MERBABU, with funding from the Boyolali Government secured in the 2023 revised local budget. The aim is to revitalize 200 villages via this movement.
