BRI Bank Signs Agreement to Support MADANI CSOs Pilot Disability-Friendly Community Health Centers in Pekalongan, Central Jav

On August 3, 2021, the SERASI Learning Forum in the district of Pekalongan (Central Java) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Pekalongan local government, selected Community Health Center managers and the local branch of the state-owned BRI Bank to support the piloting of disability-friendly Community Health Centers (Puskesmas) in Pekalongan.


Led by the MADANI Lead Partner Muslimat NU, the Pekalongan women’s branch of the national Nahdlatul Ulama organization, the SERASI Learning Forum will support the establishment and pilot of a multi-stakeholder forum in two sub-districts that will monitor the implementation of minimum service standards around disability-friendly services in the two Community Health Centers and provide recommendations for improvements. “Through MADANI, we will be focused on the fulfillment of the rights of people with disabilities, especially the right to health, with the theme of Disability Friendly Health Centers (Puskesmas Ramah Disabilitas),” said Syafrudin Huna, a member of the SERASI Forum. After the signing of the MoU, the representative of BRI Bank in Pekalongan expressed the Bank’s interest in co-funding and supporting scaling up. “After listening to the presentations from the resource persons, we from BRI agree to support this activity, and later, we can discuss a proposal to BRI,” ended Grasiano Pandu S., Branch Manager of the Pekalongan BRI Bank.
