City of Bogor Rolls Out MADANI Civil Society Tools to Local CSOs

Sep 9, 2021

On Monday, September 13, 2021, the City of Bogor’s Agency for National Unity and Politics (Kesbangpol), together with the MADANI local CSO partner Metamorfosis, organized a one-day training for 120 civil society activists and community organizations to introduce MADANI’s Organizational Performance Index (OPI), a customization of USAID’s standardized tool for civil society capacity assessment.

While the Bogor Kesbangpol office has gained a reputation for a security-oriented view towards CSOs, after collaborating with MADANI over the past 18 months, the Bogor government has expressed its appreciation for the contributions of CSOs to government accountability and communal tolerance. The workshop strengthened the CSO capacity in the city, and the coordination with Kesbangpol demonstrates improvement in the relationship between the local government and CSOs.
After this collaboration, the Bogor Kesbangpol office decided to fund a series of ten capacity support workshops during October-December 2021, organized in collaboration with Metamorfosis and the local MADANI partners, inviting more than 100 CSOs in Bogor to these workshops. Topics include introducing standard operating procedures in financial management, procurement, and human resources, and developing plans for resource mobilization, strategic communications, and monitoring and evaluation, all elements crucial for CSO viability and that MADANI has developed resources for in 2021.
