East Java Provincial Government Acknowledges USAID MADANI’s Contribution to Local Development

Feb 18, 2023

On February 16, 2023, officials from the Provincial Government of East Java visited the District of Jember to observe the impact of the USAID MADANI initiative.

The Jember Regional Development Planning Agency (BAPPEDA) kicked off the visit by showing how MADANI’s Healthy Youth Village approach supports the region’s development agenda to reduce stunting. The visit to Jember is part of a series of monitoring exercises conducted by the East Java provincial government across MADANI’s six districts in East Java. During each visit, district officials highlight how MADANI has supported interventions to improve maternal and child health, waste management, and village funds transparency, among other themes. For the past three years, MADANI has increased the legitimacy and accountability of partner CSOs, empowering them to work with district governments to address challenges through collaborative governance, community-based advocacy, adoption of policy recommendations, and locally driven solutions.
