East Java Provincial Government Organizes Dissemination of MADANI Good Practices
The East Java Province Agency for Regional Development Planning (BAPPEDA) is supporting USAID MADANI in strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations at the provincial level.
On October 17-18, 2023, BAPPEDA organized the East Java Provincial Development Partner Coordination Meeting, with participants from UNICEF, USAID-MOMENTUM, USAID-ERAT, USAID-IUWASH TANGGUH, USAID-PADU, DFAT-INOVASI, DFAT-PRISMA, UN HABITAT, and others. Staff from MADANI’s Jakarta office, along with several of the project’s former Field Coordinators, presented MADANI’s approach, results, and impact, as well as lessons learned and good practices in East Java. Development partners expressed interest in using the USAID-endorsed Organizational Performance Index as a tool to assess and strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations. The stakeholders present also expressed interest in MADANI’s solid waste management innovations piloted in Gresik and the strengthening of Village Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) through greater community participation as developed in Sumenep.
