As a result, the city launched a flagship economic recovery program called Kelurahan Mandiri (“Independent Neighborhoods”). In late January 2022, MADANI Partner CSO and Learning Forum, in collaboration with the local government, launched a business service delivery assessment in all 27 sub-districts in Madiun, employing a participatory and community-based monitoring and evaluation tool. The Madiun Government plans to use the assessment results to design and carry out trainings to increase small enterprise capacity. Due to the increased credibility of CSOs, as well as their effective relationship building, the Madiun Government is willing to partner with them on city-wide development projects that will have a long-lasting impact on the greater community.
