The festival promoted civil society contributions to regional development through local innovations, aiming to increase government, private sector, and community awareness and understanding of local CSOs. Over the course of the festival, 16 local CSOs presented their work to a diverse audience, including participants from government agencies, the state-owned water utility company (PDAM), the local branch of the National Alms Agency (BAZNAS), local radio stations, Save the Children, USAID ERAT and other stakeholders. On June 8, a special event celebrated the contributions of people with disabilities, and the National Alms Agency awarded a grant to the Luwu Utara Association of People with Disabilities. The Head of Luwu Utara, Ms. Indah Putri Indriani, participated in the festival and hopes that it can galvanize and inspire local actors to address the region’s development challenges through innovative ideas. The Luwu Utara event marked the start of a series of innovation festivals organized by MADANI partners – part of the project’s close-out activities – in 31 districts across six provinces.
