USAID MADANI’s Lead Partner Daun Hijau in Barru (South Sulawesi) has advocated the local government to enact a Bupati regulation designed to improve a 2016 regional regulation on CSR. Expected to be approved in March 2023, the new regulation would among other things establish a new coordination team, which would include Barru CSOs, to determine CSR priorities and eligibility. On 5 January 2023, the local government, in collaboration with Daun Hijau, hosted a public consultation to receive feedback on the pending regulation, one of several events that Daun Hijau has organized as part of their campaign to improve the enabling environment for CSO in Barrus. Once enacted, the Bupati regulation will provide mechanisms for CSOs to tap into funding opportunities from the more than 30 corporations active in Barru.
