On 8 March 2023, USAID MADANI partner CSOs commemorated International Women’s Day to raise awareness about gender equality, promote social inclusion, strengthen the capacity of women, and advocate for gender-sensitive policies.


On 8 March 2023, USAID MADANI partner CSOs commemorated International Women’s Day to raise awareness about gender equality, promote social inclusion, strengthen the capacity of women, and advocate for gender-sensitive policies.

  • East Java: Lead Partner PATTIRO Gresik hosted an all-day event to increase awareness on the critical role of women in waste management and the importance of recycling and reducing plastic waste. Lead Partner LGPP Jember, during a live stream on YouTube, encouraged women to embrace writing as a self-empowerment tool, supporting positive mental health and wellbeing. In Jombang, the multi-stakeholder forum FMMJ hosted an interactive Instagram talk show on how local governments can increase the role of women and people with disabilities in contributing to government planning and the decision-making process.
  • South Sulawesi: In collaboration with the city government, the local parliament, a radio station, and an online newspaper, Lead Partner ICJ Makassar organized a series of events to promote equality, diversity, and social inclusion, increase awareness on and the prevention of violence against women and children.
  • Banten: Provincial Support Partner PATTIRO Banten held a webinar to promote gender justice and women’s rights, focusing on legal support for gender-based violence survivors, economic empowerment, advocacy for more inclusive policies, and gender-sensitive government budgeting practices.
