USAID MADANI Partner CSO Leads the Development of Critical Primary Health Care Guidelines
On June 21, 2023, the District Health Office in Pangkep (South Sulawesi) appointed MADANI Partner CSO Lembaga Demokrasi Celebes (Lekrac) to lead the development of monitoring and performance indicator guidelines for the district’s Posyandu Operational Working Group (Pokjanal or Kelompok Kerja Operasional Pos Pelayanan).
The national government has designated that the Posyandu, the Village Integrated Health Post, plays a critical role in preventing stunting, providing health and nutrition services to pregnant women and children, and disseminating information on nutrition and caregiving. Unfortunately, out in the regions, the Posyandu is often under-resourced and staff not well trained. These new guidelines aim to revitalize the Posyandu; they will provide a tool for communities and local government agencies in Pangkep to ensure that the Posyandu can more effectively improve primary health care through better performance monitoring, as part of MADANI’s thematic focus.
