In Boyolali (Central Java), the local solution identified relates to improving community responses to access health services and information for pregnant women and newborn children. A model to strengthen the Village Health Forum (Forum Kesehatan Desa) will be piloted in two villages. This is a Ministry of Villages initiative, funded by Village Funds (Dana Desa). On July 9-10, 2021, MADANI’s Learning Forum in Boyolali (Forum Masyarakat Madani or FORMMAD) met with village governments and midwives in the proposed pilot villages, who agreed to support the pilot program. The village governments will draft village regulations on how maternal and neonatal health issues can be improved through the Village Health Forum and provide village funds for the pilots in 2022. As a follow-up, FORMMAD will conduct a coordination meeting with LG agencies and potential private sector funders to finalize the piloting plan and sign a joint commitment.
