West Java Government Uses USAID’s Organizational Performance Index in Youth Organization Award Selection Process
Youth-led organizations provide the opportunity for members to learn valuable life skills, prepare for civic engagement, become involved in community development, and promote intergenerational collaboration.
On July 5, 2023, the West Java Provincial Government kicked off the biennial Youth Organization Award cycle, which will be ongoing through September 2023. In consultation with MADANI, the provincial government decided that the award selection process will use the USAID-endorsed Organizational Performance Index (OPI) assessment tool in the Organizational Governance category. West Java currently has 139 youth-led organizations registered as members of the Indonesian Youth National Committee (KNPI). However, many of these entities fail to meet the minimum standards set by the 2013 Law on Social Organizations. The Youth Organization Award promotes youth contributions to advocacy, as well as to social, cultural, and environmental issues.
