Low community awareness and poor quality of public health services contributes to high maternal and child mortality rates. To improve this situation, USAID MADANI’s civil society partners in Brebes have revitalized the Ministry of Health program Desa Siaga KIBBL (“Maternal and Child Health Alert Village”). They focus on improving communication between the Community Health Center and the community, as well as training community cadres to ensure the wellbeing of pregnant women. On 29 March 2022, the Brebes government announced their intention to replicate the MADANI initiative in all 292 villages across the region, starting with involving MADANI partners for train-the-trainer sessions with village-level administrators and promoting the advantages of the program in the villages.
